This recording is from Annie’s first contact with Dr. Nanji speaking from the next life. As a result, she is unable to speak at first. Learning to speak by conveying thoughts that are then transformed into vocal sounds is difficult at first. Mickey, Leslie Flint’s companion who brings through people to speak, conveys messages to Dr. Nanji from Annie. She is interested in a portrait Carol Polge, the renowned spirit artist, painted of Annie in spirit. Annie knows about the portrait, knows Dr. Nanji’s reaction, and knows he remarked that he didn’t understand why she had long hair in the portrait&em;Annie’s hair had always been short. She explains through Mickey that in spirit, she is in her twenties and has long hair. A transcript follows the recording controls.

Mickey: Your wife is really interested in what appears to be a painting of herself.
Dr. Nanji: Yes.
Mickey: Em…but, it’s…I don’t, somehow, think it’s the one you’re thinking about.
Dr. Nanji: Yes?
Mickey: Have you got a large picture of your wife…colored?
Dr. Nanji: Ah…
Mickey: In color?
Dr. Nanji: I have one, uh, completed by a psychic artist this week, uh….
Mickey: Well, it is in color?
Dr. Nanji: It is in color, yes.
Mickey: Because she says that you made some comment, uh, that you thought it was very good and you’re very pleased with it.
Dr. Nanji: Yes.
Mickey: But there are certain differences that, at first, rather surprised you.
Dr. Nanji: Yes exact…
